About The Studio

Our studio is a workshop where our members can come to create the art. It is also a place of learning and teaching, where members or outsiders teach valuable skills and trades.
The studio also serves as our store in Copan Ruinas, Honduras. Tourists and members of the community can come in and buy our handmade goods directly from the people there making the products.
Our online and physical stores are 100% Fairtrade. The artists determine their income first and the final price is determined accordingly from there. For sales in-store, the studio keeps 20% to cover rent and overhead expenses. The rest is split between the artist and the salesperson in the store. For online sales, the studio keeps 20% for maintenance and administration of the online store and the studio. The rest goes to the artist.
About Deborah

After visiting Honduras in 2005 on a scuba diving trip, Louisiana-native Deborah Matherne visited Copan Ruinas and her life changed forever. She fell in love with the people of the community and the spirit they embody. She created the cooperative to help unify the artisans in the surrounding villages, give them a market for their goods, and offer them an empowering way to climb out of poverty.
